Note for:   Giovanni Cella,    - ABT 1918         Index
Note:   Rose Cella's parents made frequent trips back and forth from
Italy to the United States. On the last trip that they made
back to Italy, Giovani Cella (Father of Rose Cella) was to open
a small hotel or inn in Italy (not sure whether he already
owned a building or he was going to purchase a building). Mom
() has the name of the city somewhere.

She thinks she must have been an infant at that time.
Giovani Cella had tried to convince Michael Lawrence Biondo to
go along on that trip along with Mom Rose Cella. Michael
Lawrence Biondo was perfectly agreeable to idea until he found
out that they did not intend to return to the United States,
but were going to stay and operate the inn. So he decided not
to go to Italy.

The Cellas took Louise Cella with them. Louise was nine years
old and the child of Rose Cella's brother. His wife had died
when the baby was born and Rose CELLA was more or less like a
foster mother to Louise until she was nine years old. Rose
Cella's other brother who was unmarried (probably in his teens
at the time. The group had not been in italy very long when
Giovani Cella Died. Giovani's wife, Maria, said she was not
going to leave the soil where her husband was buried. the
family tried to get her to come back to the U.S. but she
refused, and stayed there with Louise and the young man. The
inn probably never materialized. When Louise was 17, Maria,
mother of Rose Cella died and Rose Cella and her brothers
pooled their money to pay for Louise's passage back to the U.S.
Louise lived with Rose Cella, Michael Lawrence Biondo and
(Mom) . For a while she was like a sister
to Mom.

Mom found a piece of paper that had the following notation
written in Lawrence Biondo's handwriting: "Giovanni Cella,
8-9-50, section W, range 8, lot 28, Grave No." Is this where he
is buried in Italy? Is 8-9-50 a date? Speculation: According
to the above story, if Mom was an infant when the Cella's went
back to Italy, the year was about 1918-1920. Louise was 9 years
old. Maria, Mother of Rose cella died when Louise was 17,
therefore she probably died around 1926-1928.
Note:   He probably came 1892-1894 (this based on Mom's assumption
that Rosa was an infant when she came to U.S.

Birth note:    ||Since his daughter Rosa Maria was born in the Province of
Genova, it is possible Giovani was born in or near Genova.

IMMI    ||He probably came 1892-1894 (this based on Mom's assumption
that Rosa was an infant when she came to U.S.). Before 1919
was prior to Mom's birth.

Death note:    Conjecture, based on conversation with Dorothy Biondo.
